I am X, mother of 17-year-old twin daughters, from Kabul. We are a Tajik family. My husband was an ANP officer (police). After the fall of the government, he went to Iran for work, but his income is insufficient to support us. Taliban families repeatedly harassed us and demanded to marry my daughters.
Qari Salam Haqqani, a Taliban commander from Paktia, threatened us and claimed that my daughters were his. We were warned that if we refused to give our daughters to them, they would take them by force and kill me.
On 15 August 2023, while my daughter and I were in the city, armed Taliban members entered our home, tied my son, and forcibly abducted my other daughter. We reported the incident to the nearby police station, but they told us the Taliban commander was powerful and warned us not to make trouble.
After two days, she was returned in a severely injured condition, with torn and blood-stained clothes. The Taliban told us to prepare our daughters for marriage. We took her
to a clinic and later fled to Kabul for protection and treatment with your organization.
Daughter’s Statement
I am X, 17 years old. Taliban armed men entered our home, restrained my brother, and forcibly took me away. They blindfolded me and took me to another house.
After several hours, two masked men sexually assaulted me.
I continue to suffer from severe headaches, physical pain and nightmares, but I am receiving treatment and gradually feeling better. My sister and I are now in a safe place with your organization. I am grateful to those who rescued and protected us.
