I am L, mother of a daughter. My husband was a military officer of the former Afghan government. After the fall of the government, he went into hiding.
February 2023, a Taliban patrol abducted my child while she was playing outside. We reported her abduction to a nearby Taliban base, but the Taliban commander threatened us and ordered us to remain silent. After about 24 hours, she was returned with torn and blood- stained clothes. She had been sexually assaulted.
She was taken to a clinic and later brought to Kabul for further treatment. She continues to suffer from pain, nightmares, bed-wetting and psychological distress.
Daughter’s statement:
While I was playing outside, Taliban patrol members took me to a house, tied my hands and feet, and assaulted me. There were three men. I was terrified, in severe pain, and my clothes became bloody. After a day, I was taken back to my family. We are afraid of the Taliban because they threatened us with death because of my father's former military work.
